Why Beo?

Every Beo concert centers around an idea: that great performances don't just present music—they create meaningful experiences.

Beo combine time-tested and new chamber works with original compositions into thoughtfully crafted programs that invite audiences to hear familiar music with fresh ears and discover new music through familiar ideas.

“The energy…the quality and content of each engagement, and the outstanding concert performance truly made this one of the best-ever chamber music residencies we have hosted.”

— Ruth Waalkes, Associate Provost for the Arts, Executive Director, Moss Arts Center, Virginia Tech

Programs

Every Beo program begins with a question:

"What experience do we want audiences to have?"

From there, Beo builds concerts that draw from centuries of repertoire—classical masterworks, contemporary voices, and original compositions—always in service of a coherent artistic journey rather than a collection of individual works.

Every community is different.

We enjoy learning about your audience, your series, and the experience you hope to create. From there, we curate a program that is both artistically coherent and uniquely suited to your community.

Programming in Practice

Every program below is representative rather than fixed. Every Beo program can be adapted through conversation with presenters to create the strongest experience for their audience.

Education & Residencies

Learning through participation. Listening through experience.

Whether working with elementary students, university ensembles, or emerging composers, our educational programs are built around the same philosophy that shapes our performances: meaningful participation. That approach has guided our work in classrooms, concert halls, and rehearsal spaces across a wide range of educational settings. Rather than simply explaining music, we invite students to experience it through listening, collaboration, discussion, and discovery.

Inside a Beo Education Program

This short excerpt follows one of our interactive school performances, where students discover musical ideas through guided listening, participation, and collaborative musical games.

Our Educational Philosophy

Music is understood most deeply when it is experienced.

We believe students learn best through active participation. Every program encourages curiosity, careful listening, collaboration, and the confidence to engage directly with music rather than simply observe it.
